Both are built into the Modules. You can also review our full College Policies in our College catalog.
Each Canvas course contains a generic announcement. Please take a moment to personalize this announcement!

At LIM College, all courses are reviewed for required information before courses are published. Please review our Course Preparation page for more information. You should also check the Academic Calendar to confirm start and end dates.
Sonis contains the most updated roster for your course. Sonis also contains a photo for each student. Students are added to Canvas one week before the class starts.
Take a moment to review teaching expectations regarding FERPA, attendance, and more.
If you are teaching entirely on MS Teams, please visit our MS Teams for Faculty page to learn how to enable MS Education in Canvas and set up your MS Teams Meetings.
Attendance must be posted in Sonis weekly for all course modalities.
We use this information to monitor student retention and persistence.
Midterm and Final grades must be posted in Sonis in a timely manner - within 48 hours of the midterm class or last class of the semester.
Please keep assignment grades up-to-date in Canvas.
Please use LIM (Outlook) Email or the Canvas Inbox (preferred) for all communication with students.
Regardless of modality, it's helpful to have a second announcement go out with the weekly reminders - class locations, class times, required readings, attendance, etc.
Take attendance and post in Sonis. Email students who missed the first class. Online faculty: attendance is due on Mondays and submitting assignments counts towards attendance.
The best time to set expectations for your students is right at the beginning of class. Tell them how to communicate with you, attendance and late work policies, your Generative AI policy, etc.
Plan for interactive class sessions that include mini-lectures (~15minutes) interspersed with small or large group activities. Online faculty: consider add video requirements to discussion board or other social activities.
