Prepare for Week 1

  1. 1

    Announcement

Regardless of modality, it's helpful to have a second announcement go out with the weekly reminders - class locations, class times, required readings, attendance, etc.

  2. 2

    Take Attendance

Take attendance and post in Sonis. Email students who missed the first class. Online faculty: attendance is due on Mondays and submitting assignments counts towards attendance.

  3. 3

    Set Expectations

The best time to set expectations for your students is right at the beginning of class. Tell them how to communicate with you, attendance and late work policies, your Generative AI policy, etc.

  4. 4

    Interactivity

Plan for interactive class sessions that include mini-lectures (~15minutes) interspersed with small or large group activities. Online faculty: consider add video requirements to discussion board or other social activities.
