About Canvas and MS365

Canvas LMS

Instructure Canvas is LIM College's Learning Management System. All faculty are required to use Canvas during the semester regardless of course modality.

All Canvas courses contain the following:

  • Course Syllabus including LIM College's ontime coursework submission policy and your generative AI policy.
  • Weekly Assignments including due dates and deadlines
  • Course Materials built into weekly Modules.

Modules must not be locked for 7-week fully online courses. These are accelerated courses and online students need to be able to review content whenever they have time.

Blueprint Courses

If you have been assigned a 7-week fully online (asynchronous course), please know that these courses are pre-populated with content and assignments. Faculty instructions are also included in the Instructor Module and sometimes within each weekly Module. If you have questions about a specific tool referenced in the assignment or how many assignments are in the course, you can get this information by reading the Faculty Instructions. If you would like to make any changes to the course, please contact your department. Course descriptions, course learning objectives, and textbooks cannot be changed.

Microsoft 365

We are a Microsoft school and all faculty, staff, and students are provided with key MS tools including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and OneDrive. Faculty are not allowed to use the Google suite of tools for teaching at LIM.

To access the Microsoft, log into MyLIM and click on Microsoft 365 Portal. We encourage you set up Course folders to house materials such as worksheets and handouts, as well as information for students.

Watch the Intro to Microsoft 365 Portal video tutorial. (requires LIM login)

If you are new to MS365, please visit the following Microsoft Support sites to get basic information on launching and using the various tools in the suite.
