  • Application

Students must submit their completed application by the deadlines listed above under "Important Dates" to be considered for this program.

LIM College’s study abroad programs are competitive, as more applications are typically received than there are spots available. The following factors are considered when LIM selects candidates to participate in study abroad programs:

    • Personal statement/essay: Original, succinct essays with well-thought out content will be rated highly.
    • Interview with Study Abroad Coordinator: Students should be prepared to speak about why they are a good candidate for the program to which they are applying.
    • GPA: The student’s LIM College GPA is taken into consideration.
    • Demonstrated interest: Applicants can increase their chance of being selected by attending information sessions and/or setting up a time to meet one-on-one with the Study Abroad Coordinator to discuss the program they are interested in applying for.

Students who are accepted into the program will be required to submit their personal and academic information to their host school along with a copy of the photo page of their passport. Further information on this process will be given to accepted students.

  • Orientation

All students are required to attend the LIM College Pre-Departure Orientation. Date, time, and location will be made available after acceptance into program. Students must also attend the RMIT Orientation and are required to arrange their travel so they can do so. Orientation is typically held one to two weeks prior to the start of each semester.

  • Courses

Course lists can be found here: https://www.rmit.edu.vn/study-at-rmit/undergraduate-programs/bachelor-fashion-enterprise

Students will be required to submit an LIM Course Proposal Form to have their courses evaluated prior to attending RMIT Vietnam. Students must be registered for a minimum of 12 credit hours (or the equivalent) per term, including both courses abroad and online courses taken at LIM. Students may register for a maximum of the equivalent of 12 credit hours at RMIT Vietnam. Final registration for courses happens during Orientation Week.

Students must meet with their Academic Advisor to ensure their courses will fit into their graduation plan.

  • Accommodations & Travel

RMIT Vietnam offers on-campus accommodation. However, it is very competitive and rooms may not be available for exchange students. More information on how to apply for on-campus housing will be provided to students upon admission to the program.

Off-campus accommodation is relatively easy to secure and can be quite affordable. Support and assistance with finding off-campus accommodation is available through the Office of Student Life at RMIT Vietnam and LIM's Study Abroad Coordinator.

All housing costs are paid directly to the housing provider, which may be the host university, a student apartment company, a landlord, etc. depending on where the student chooses to live.

The Saigon South Campus's gym facilities are available to all students, regardless of whether they live on or off campus.

Students are responsible for booking and purchasing their own airfare.

  • Health Insurance

All international students who study at RMIT Vietnam are automatically enrolled in RMIT's health insurance policy with coverage for the duration of their time in Vietnam and will be billed by the university (estimated cost: $240 for one semester). All international students are required to have the RMIT health insurance plan in order to their health and safety, even if they also have their own provider. Find more information about the plan here: https://www.rmit.edu.vn/insurance-international-students.

  • Program Cost

Students pay LIM College tuition to LIM College for the semester abroad. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from Vietnam and the United States. The following are approximate costs that travelers on this program may incur (note that all costs are in US dollars unless otherwise noted):

    • Airfare to and from Vietnam: $1200
    • Student Visa: $105
    • Accommodations: $400 per month
    • Food: $200 per month
    • Transportation costs: $100 per month
    • Health insurance: $240 per semester
    • Books and supplies: $150 per semester
    • Personal expenses: $100 per month

Students who receive financial aid can typically apply this aid to a semester abroad. All students who receive aid will be required to meet with a Student Financial Services Counselor prior to departure to discuss the status of their aid and complete any additional requirements.

  • Student Visa

Students will be required to have a “Study Entry Visa” to study abroad for the semester. Students must have a valid passport that expires no sooner than 6 months past the end of the exchange experience to apply for the visa and should be prepared to show that they have access to sufficient funds to cover their costs for the semester as part of the visa application process. Before they can apply for a visa, students will need a letter of acceptance from RMIT Vietnam, which will be provided upon acceptance to the program. More information can be found here: https://www.rmit.edu.vn/study-at-rmit/international-students/study-abroad-in-vietnam/entry-requirements-study-abroad.

Student visas are normally issued for one month prior to commencement of the semester and will be valid up to one month after completion of studies. Students are encouraged not to make any travel plans until their visa has been issued and they know the exact dates of its validity. Once in Australia, students on a valid Sub-Class 500 Non-Award Student Visa are eligible to work up to 40 hours per every two weeks.

  • Additional Services

Exchange students at RMIT have access to a variety of services, including: airport pick-up, on-campus clubs and organizations, a buddy program, welcome activities (city tour and welcome dinner), and Vietnamese language classes.
